In this video I put the NiYien A1 Gyrologger through a real-world stabilization test across a wide range of focal lengths, from an 8mm fisheye all the way to 250mm (400mm full-frame equivalent) on an APS-C sensor.
The goal is to see how gyro-based stabilization performs as focal length increases, how much smoothing is actually needed, and how well the gyro data can help correct rolling shutter / jello distortion during rapid camera movement.
I also compare gyro-based stabilization with internal lens stabilization and traditional software stabilization.
Before getting into the tests, I explain how the NiYien Tool, Gyroflow, and the Gyroflow plugin for Adobe Premiere Pro work, and how the gyro data recorded by the A1 is used to stabilize the footage.
